Troop 750
Rank Advancement Process
1) Only the Scoutmaster (SM) or Assistant Scoutmasters (ASM) may sign off requirements.
2) Read your scout book and learn about each requirement for advancement to the next rank.
3) Meet with the SM or ASM to discuss the requirement(s).
4) Do the requirement to the satisfaction of the SM or ASM.
5) Have the SM or ASM sign off the requirement in your scout book at the time it is passed.
6) After all requirements for a rank are completed, request a Scoutmaster Conference with the
Scoutmaster, Mr. Wright.
7) After the Scoutmaster conference is completed and Mr. Wright signs off on this requirement
in your book, sign-up for a Board of Review using the sign up sheet on the back table at
Monday meetings. Remember – you must be in full class “A” uniform for your board of
review meeting.
8) After the Board of Review has been completed and signed off in your book, give your book
to the Advancement Coordinator, Mr. Snuggs, so he can record your advancement
and procure your badge and permanent record card.
9) If at all possible, you will be recognized and will receive your rank advancement badge at the
next meeting after you turn in your scout book to Mr. Snuggs.
10) At the next Court of Honor (these are held quarterly), you will be recognized again for your
rank advancement and will receive your permanent record of your advancement.
Merit Badge Process
1) Determine which merit badge you wish to work on.
2) Request approval to start the merit badge from the Scoutmaster, Mr. Wright. He will provide
you with a blue card and will assign a merit badge counselor to guide you through the merit
badge requirements.
3) Obtain a copy of the merit badge book related to the merit badge you are working on, and
read it. The Troop has a library of merit badge books – see the librarian to check one out.
4) Set up a time with your merit badge counselor to discuss the requirements with them.
5) Complete each requirement to the satisfaction of your merit badge counselor.
6) Once the counselor is satisfied with your completion of each requirement, they will sign the
blue card to indicate this.
7) Once all requirements are completed and signed off, present the blue card to the
Advancement Coordinator, Mr. Snuggs, so he can record your accomplishment and
procure your badge and permanent record card.
8) If at all possible, you will be recognized and will receive your merit badge at the next
meeting after you turn in your blue card into Mr. Snuggs.
9) At the next Court of Honor (these are held quarterly), you will be recognized again for your
achievement and will receive your permanent merit badge record.
Remember: It is critical that you keep your permanent advancement and merit badge records
in a safe place for your use when you go for your Eagle Board of Review.
